November 21st-OB Appointment. Very Important Blog.

hello my friends!

today i went for my 1030 ultra sound and that went really well. connor does not have much room left in me and it was so great to see him again. he weighs around 8 pounds 6 ounces.

next, i waited for my 1045 appointment with my ob. she was running an hour behind but i did not mind because we really needed to figure out what was going on with my situation. my blood pressure would not go down.. it was 130 something over 100. Then, when the doctor came in, she told me that she believes that I will be able to deliver vaginally and told me that "i have a lot of space inside of me" due to my pelvic area being similar to my mothers. so, that was good news. she also wants to see me again on monday to re-do my blood pressure because of it being high and schedule and induction date for the week of the 26th so Connor will be around 9 pounds and that will be best for me to deliver vaginally and not go past my due date.

then, it was time for my questions. nick asked all about inducement and how it is performed. then i told her about my intense migranes, nausea, swelling, and blood pressure being high and sweating lots. she said she was going to wait till monday but with the way i was feeling she sent me for blood work and to be monitored in Labor and Delivery. I was so confused. I got to Labor and Delivery with Nick ( my second visit there now) and they immediately put me on my side and hooked me up to machines from 1130-430. my bp would get better but then whenever i stood up or sat up or laid on my right side the blood pressure machine went nuts and started to beep like crazy. at first, i got so scared and nick did too. we thought something might be wrong with connor but it was my bp getting higher. after the blood work, the nurse told us my levels were high and i have something called gestational hypertension where you heart is working overtime to pump blood for me and baby. so now, i am on OFFICAL bed rest until monday and they decided not to induce me today because they want connor to have no respiratory problems and to make it to 39 weeks which is this sunday. therefore, they sent me home but said to call if i feel sick and they will do an emergency inducement and get me going.

monday the 26th is the day I find out when my inducement is--it can be that day or tues or wednesday, etc of that week.

i might not be on the computer as much due to getting severe migranes as a side effect to the hypertension.. other side effects are pressure under the ribs which is the liver, sweating, nausea, high blood pressure, dizzyness, etc. anyways, i wanted to update everyone. call me on my cell if you want to talk or text me. happy thanksgiving to everyone!!!

laurie

November 9th, OBGYN Appointment.

hey everyone!

today was a long day at the doctors. first, i got my ultra sound done. connor now weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces! some of his measurements are at 41 weeks. it is amazing. we saw him moving his mouth and doing the sucking reflex. it was so adorable. we also saw a profile shot. he looked so cozy in there and then i remembered what my new friend tiff said that boys are stubborn and get all cozy in there and often come out near the due date or later. oh connor!!

after the ultra sound, we waited 2 hours in the doctors office for our appointment. i had to walk down the hallway because i was sweating and shaking a little after waiting so long. then i found out the doctor i see the most, and was going to see that day had a family emergency with her father. the other ob's were in surgery. one came down and still had multiple surgeries and c-sections to perform and one of the midwives was there.

this appointment was really to find out what was going to go on with connor and how we should approach things. instead the one doctor that was stretching herself thin, gave me facts but could not answer any questions.. and after waiting two hours i wanted answers but i understood obviously the surgeries came first. so, connor's weight she told me is in the 90th percentile and is a big baby. his new due date according to the calculations would be november 16th. they really want him to come early but said they can not induce me or do a c-section if i needed it until 39 weeks. that is a standard rule i guess. i wish i could find out more.. *sigh* instead i came home crying with no answers and wearing myself out. i am so physically drained... the secretaries were like, "get that baby out of her!!" lol.

so, my next appointment is next friday and they said in two weeks they can do an ultra sound again to see where we are at with connor's development. ugh. that would be my 39th week!! if connor is 8 pounds 4 ounces now he can be well over 10 by my 39th week and if they wait any longer i have no fucking idea how he is coming out!!

i could definitely use all your prayers right now. i am hoping he comes out on his own soon but if not... i have no idea what is going to happen. i have a great obgyn group but of course the day i go in is the chaotic day. lol. love you all and sorry i could not call everyone... i got home and all i had was cereal today and i went out to dinner right afterwards with nick and my parents. just know if i could have called all of you i would. love you all!!

xoxo,

laurie.

End of Week 36.

monday was a stressful day. i ended up going back to the doctors to get my contractions checked. i was there for most of the afternoon to find out i was a little over a centimeter dilated.. so i dilated just a little bit more.. by the time i got home i was extremely exhausted and so overwhelmed and a little nervous with everything going on i just did not want to do anything but go to sleep. contractions really make you tired!!

tuesday i started to contract hard around 12-1 o'clock. i went to take my dog carleigh outside and walk her down the path. as i am walking, i felt sharp pains, so sharp i felt like i had to bend over. when we got close to our house i did the "preggo run" right to the bathroom and just sat there and cried in pain. oh what fun!!

wednesday i had severe pains through out the day. my mother and grandmother came over to help me clean since i am supposed to be on rest. it meant so much to me just to get some help with things i could not do myself anymore and to be around people when you are not feeling good.

friday i go back to the doctor for an ultra sound and to see connor's height and weight and to discuss where to go from here. the doctor said his ideal time to come would be around November 15th. i hope he does not wait too long!

xoxo,

laurie.

p.s- oh! i finally started to pack my bag. got the pj's in there and some clothes. just need to put in connor's coming home outfit and some travel size shampoos and stuff like that.

36 Weeks! First Experience in Labor and Delivery.

On Saturday night, I tried to go
to bed a litle earlier with my hubby. I could not sleep all night. I
felt nauseous and crampy pains.Around 8 am I started to feel sharp
pains right above the va-jay jay area and sudden urges to go to the
bathroom. Then, at 9 am, I was going to the bathroom every other minute
thinking I had to pee. The pains right above my va-jay jay area started
to get more intense like a period cramp. By 10, I started crying
because I was so uncomfortable and my mom told me to call my OBGYN
group. I did, and I gave them all of my symptoms, telling them I am
trinkling a littl', not sure if it is my water, and told them about the
consistent sharp cramp like pains since 8 am.She then told me that she
thinks that I might be going into early stages of labor but does not
think it is intense labor. She wanted me to go to the labor and
delivery section of the hospital to get checked out.

Nicholas and I arrived at the hospital by 11:15-11:30 ish. I was placed
on a contraction monitor and the baby was being monitored. My blood
pressure was elevated pretty high for me. I was so confused since I
really do not know what a contraction is and sometimes when I am having
them. As I was talking to the nurse, she asked me..,"Are you having a
contraction now?" I did not even realize it and told her, " You know, I
think I am from what you have told me" and it showed up on the machine.
My contractions were averaged every 3 to 5 MINUTES! I could not believe
it! Then, they checked my cervix. My cervix was softened 50/50 and so
they decided after talking to my doctor that they were going to keep me
longer! I thought I would be there for an hour but by this time it was
1:15!!

The next thing they wanted me to do was to walk around the labor and
delivery section of the hospital with Nicholas. We did that for 45
minutes and came back to the room close to 1 hr later. They hooked me
back up to the machines and my contractions I felt were calming down
because I, too, was calming down from being tired from walking. As I am
about to really fall asleep.. all of the sudden HARD contractions come
on.. 4 to 7 minutes apart but BIGGER ones. I was holding on the the
side of the bed.. the bar there.. and just trying to breathe through it
and relax.. The nurse came back in and the two mid wives from my
doctors office who were already at the hospital but offered to help out
my doctor. They saw the contractions lessen and then get more hard near
the end and i informed them of that as well.

They went to check my cervix and to their surprise, ( both checked
cause they were shocked!) I was dilated about 1 cm! Since, it was now 3
something.. and about 4 hrs since I had came in.. They decided that I
would be more comfortable at home.. they said that Connor could come at
9 am tonight, tomorrow, anytime this week.. The next.. or even closer
to my due date. Nick asked if he had the opportunity to work from home
if he could should he and they all said YES! They said the next few
days (this week) is crucial to see if contractions get worse. So,
Connor might be on his way!

Tonight, I napped and then had dinner with Nick and my In-Laws. They
brought over take out and we just relaxed. After my nap I was soaking
wet so I changed before going downstairs to dinner. Then, during dinner
I still had mild contractions.. then afterwards.. they got pretty
severe for two hours or so. I took a hot bath and am on a little break
from them so we shall see if they come back harder this time or not.
Sorry for the long post just wanted to inform everyone of the situation!

Love You All! Patiently waiting on Connor's Arrival!! As the nurses
said, "At least these contractions, if anything, were not for nothing!
I dilated and am on my way!"

Laurie
